How I joined
Everything had just started well.
It happened that the inspiration came to my mind: Lets get some piece of note on my tablet and write something about this incredible boy who dared to spend years on imagining, creating, testing, fine tuning and finally materialising his big dream to make a board game.
I had thoughts, like:
“I never met someone, who was this determined, who handled really well rejection or setbacks, who became more and more motivated when his first ideas of doing things in such way how he imagined did not work in reality as their best. This guy could just go to anyone, start chit chatting about totally unrelated things and ended up sending some copies of the first version of the story or the rule book to these buddies. And these people got interested and they came back. And they insisted on trying out this new game which was designed by him. And they liked it, they gave feedbacks and critics. And they were super happy, when some months or maybe a year later they asked some updates about the game, wanted another replay and discovered some of their remarks built in the game mechanics and they enjoyed the game quite a lot. And then needed to remind themselves, that this is still not an official game, just a side project of a first time creator and game designer to be.
When we first met with him, I was somehow caught by this grand idea about a fantasy game, with a quite long story, which showed this type of atmospheric universe where you can be a hero and fight against the evil. The story was thought through enough to make me curious to read it. Even if I was not that big gamer back then, I just felt this super enthusiasm, when he told about his ideas, where he is in his long journey, what he still needs to try in order to release it. I could just listen all about this for hours. And I wanted to cooperate. I wanted to be part of it. To witness how the game will be finding its place and aims its audience and how he is growing with the game in the process. And of course I wanted to try it, it was something in the mechanics in the game, what I did not exactly experience before. I remember when I first saw the table with the graphics and the home-made miniatures I was like, ooook, let me see it. And then I was like, woa was this whole thing really you? Its something. And everyone who played with me everytime when I tried had the same experiences let them be hardcore gamers or just those “I dont play often but if i do i like kicking your ass” types. I have to tell it worked for them too.
But the best thing was seeing his face light up when I asked something about the game or the release plans. We could be incredibly tired he still showed that article what he thought could be useful even for me to read, or that feed of comments which gave him new checkpoints in the process. And of course no need to say that he is managing the full life of the game. He even learned to design a website to make sure that everything is how he planned it.”
So I could have said such deep first thoughts about this guy, lets call him Balázs, the creator of a fantastic yet complex and all-nighter semi-coop board game, Legacy of Thracks, if he did not delete my precious post from my tablet by removing my notes application. I could never recover those notes. Sad.
So here we are now today. Announcing, that a new epic, unique game is on the corner and is waiting for you to get involved in its story. Join us and follow the last months of an almost 6 year old story to Kickstarter and be part of our journey.
More updates to come in the upcoming times in the form of blog posts, FB posts and on Instagram about the game, its story and mechanics, about the creator and for sure about some funny yet instructive moments in the process. Don’t miss any of them. We are already super excited about it. 🙂
And to not let any questions in you, who the hack I may be. I joined as the source of that non-boardgame kind of creativity to our already 2-person team. Let me present you myself, Ági. The posts will mostly come from my pen. Let’s get some fun together! 🙂
All the Bests,
The LoT team
